The blade is short enough that you can work inside the animal and feel where you are at all times.” The skinner has a full-tang fixed blade of 12C27 Sandvik stainless steel with stainless steel bolsters, both mirror-polished for ease of cleaning. Blade length is 3.15″. Model 2845 features traditional stag scales with brass pins.
The sheath Russ designed makes this knife even more unique with the extra pouch. Russ explains: “For me, a horizontal sheath makes getting around easier. It doesn’t interfere with your rifle or backpack, and it’s not always banging the bush plane or fouling the pack horse rope. I never carry a box of shells out of camp . . . usually just a magazine and the two cartridges in my sheath. They won’t rattle around, and the pockets will handle ammunition from .243 up to .338.
No matter what happens, you’ll always have those two shells to get you home.
