Washington State SB 5860 to remove “spring blade” (i.e., automatic) knives from the definition of “dangerous weapon” and allow the sale and possession of these knives passed the Senate (45-Y, 3-N) today (February 9th). It will now move to the House, and we expect it will be referred to the House Committee on Civil Rights & Judiciary.
Thank you to Mike Vellekamp of VNives and AKTI’s advocacy representative, David Garriepty, for their efforts in meeting with members of the Senate, educating them on the importance of allowing Washington businesses to compete with the 45 other states that allow their citizens to purchase and use automatic knives.
