St. Louis, MO (April 4, 2013) – Thank you Rep. Wanda Brown (R-57) for introducing Missouri House Bill 912. This piece of legislation will correct inadvertent errors when Missouri revised sections of its statutes on weapons in 2011. Efforts in 2012 to get this change passed failed due to lack of time during the session.
HB 912 revises the definition of knife to include any knife used for hunting or fishing and creates an exception to the crime of possessing certain weapons if the weapon is solely a keepsake, curio or ornament. This will provide much relief for Missouri knife owners who for years had been allowed to own these knives.
This bill has been referred to the House Committee on General Laws.
