Would allow the manufacture of automatics and the sell of automatics to persons with a valid concealed carry license as well as peace officers.
February 5, 2015 – Illinois Senate Bill 711 was introduced by Senator Tim Bivins (R-45). As a law enforcement officer, he understands the value of automatic knives to peace officers and others. SB 711 would amend the Criminal Code of 2012 and provide that a person who has been issued a currently valid license under the Firearm Concealed Carry Act may possess a switchblade knife, but must comply the restrictions on carrying in specific locations as provided in the Firearm Concealed Carry Act. It would also permit peace officers to purchase, possess, or carry a switchblade knife.
This bill has been referred to the Senate Committee on Judiciary.
The Illinois legislature is expected to adjourn May 31, 2015. That’s not much time to get this bill passed!
