“Online marketplaces represent a large proportion of business for many of the companies in the knife industry,” said Mark Schreiber, President of CRKT and chair of AKTI’s Anti-Counterfeiting Committee. “As a nonprofit trade association representing the entire knife community, our aim is to help our members with information on how to work with these marketplaces to eliminate counterfeits and practices that destroy brand reputations.”
“This article provides an overview of a few legal cases currently percolating through the court system,” said Jeremiah Pastrick, who has served as both vice president of a consulting firm specializing in international intellectual property (IP) development, protection and anti-counterfeiting as well as IP counsel to a wide range of global IP owners. “These cases are intended to recalibrate the relationship between brand-owners and operators of virtual marketplaces. We will continue to monitor these cases closely and provide updates and new information.”
